The authors thank Howard Lopes Ribeiro Junior and colleagues and Hady Ghanem and Michele Cherfane for their responses to a recent analysis of the global burden of cancer. Both correspondences address related issues of data availability, data interpretation, and uncertainty in the setting of poor cancer surveillance. These questions arise in the context of suboptimal surveillance of oncological diseases. The correspondence is the author's response to the mentioned comments.
