Obesity is associated with a higher risk of infection-related hospitalizations and death, according to a prospective multicohort study. People with obesity III. classes (BMI) have a significantly higher risk of severe and fatal infections compared to people of a healthy weight. A study showed a link between obesity and hospitalizations due to infections. These findings confirm increased health risks in obese individuals.
