A study compared sentinel node biopsy (SLNB) with systematic pelvic node dissection (PLND) in patients with early-stage endometrial cancer treated between January 2020 and December 2023. SLNB was associated with shorter operative time, less blood loss, and shorter postoperative hospital stay compared with PLND[1]. The success rate of sentinel node mapping reached 97.0% at the level of the patient[1]. The overall rate of postoperative complications and the incidence of lower limb lymphedema at 12 months were significantly lower in the SLNB group[1]. Ultrastaging detected six additional cases of micrometastases or isolated tumor cells in the SLNB group[1]. Patients' quality of life was better after SLNB compared to PLND at three and six months after surgery[1]. In multivariate analysis, PLND was an independent risk factor for postoperative complications[1].
