Confidence in safety of certain vaccines is dropping

A November-December 2025 Annenberg Public Policy Center study of 1,637 American adults found that 83% believe the MMR vaccine is safe, 80% the flu vaccine, and 65% the COVID-19 vaccine.[1] Since November 2024, confidence in the safety of the MMR has dropped from 86% to 83%, and in the flu vaccine from 83% to 80%.[1] Compared to August 2022, there was a more significant decrease: MMR from 88% to 83%, influenza from 85% to 80%, and COVID-19 from 73% to 65%.[1] A January 2026 KFF poll put confidence in the CDC for reliable vaccine information at 47% among adults, with Democrats dropping from 64% to 55% as of September 2025.[2][3] Confidence in the safety of vaccines for children is lowest for COVID-19 (48%), higher for hepatitis B (70%) and influenza (65%).[2][3] IQVIA data shows a decline in pharmacy vaccinations from 2024: 27% for COVID-19, 6% for influenza and 34% for RSV.[4]
