OEB 6 represents the upper limit for occupational health zoning classification when handling high potency molecules (HPAPI), typically defined as less than 0.1 µg/m³.[1] As drug efficacy increases, limiting OEB 6 becomes increasingly important for the safe production of HPAPI.[1] Oncology growth and complex payloads are driving this need.[1] Traditionally, OEB 6 is considered the upper limit, but FPS Pharma is introducing OEB 7 insulators for ultra-potent APIs at the single-digit nanogram level.[1] These isolators reduce cleaning and validation time, enable accurate dosing and reduce downtime due to ergonomic design.[1] They include closed transfer systems, automatic cleaning (CIP/WIP), sterilization in place (SIP) and real-time monitoring.[1] HPAPI production is growing due to the demand for targeted therapies, especially in oncology, which requires strict measures to protect personnel.[7]
