The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and its Director, Pamela Rendi-Wagner, welcomed the President of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Nancy Hamzawi, on Monday, February 16, 2026. The aim of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations and increase global health security. ECDC works actively with international partners such as the World Health Organization and other Centers for Disease Control to improve systems for the prevention and control of infectious diseases. The organization focuses on building capacity in communicable disease surveillance, preparedness for public health emergencies and strengthening responses to infectious disease threats in Europe and globally.
