Element Biosciences launches the AVITI benchtop sequencer, capable of sequencing a genome for $100. This benchtop tool uses ABC sequencing technology with avidity base chemistry, which creates stable complexes without PCR and reduces errors such as index hopping. AVITI has two independent flow cells with a capacity of up to 600 Gb per run, enabling parallel runs. It supports various read lengths from 2x75 to 2x300 and outputs from 100 million to 2 billion reads per run. The sequencer can handle whole-genome sequencing of one or two human trios in 38 hours or 24-48 exomes in 24 hours with Cloudbreak chemistry. It offers high accuracy with ≥70% Q50 and ≥90% Q40 data, low optical duplications and sequencing of inserts longer than 500 bp. It is suitable for applications such as WGS, WES, RNA-seq, targeted sequencing and single-cell analysis. It ensures low sequencing costs and fixed reagent prices.
