US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the US will send a hospital ship to Greenland to take care of sick people without medical care[1]. The USNS Mercy is to be dispatched in coordination with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry[1]. Trump published his proposal without details about who exactly the aid should be intended for[1]. To the post on the social network Truth Social, he attached an image of the ship, which was apparently generated by artificial intelligence[1]. The Prime Minister of Greenland, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, politely declined the offer, saying that Greenland has a free public healthcare system[5]. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen also confirmed that Greenlanders have the health care they need either in Greenland or in Denmark for specialized treatment[5]. It is not clear whether the ship actually sailed to Greenland[5].
