Mark Butler is Australia's Minister for Health, Aging, Disability and the National Health Insurance System (NDIS). Before serving in parliament, he worked as a lawyer and led the United Voice health workers' union. He also dealt with medical work in accidents. He mentioned that Australia was undergoing major changes, such as the de-institutionalisation of psychiatric hospitals and large centers for people with disabilities. His interest in healthcare precedes his parliamentary career. As minister, he oversees the strengthening of Medicare and reforms to aging and the NDIS.
