Harvard geneticist George Church received donations from the Jeffrey Epstein Foundation between 2005 and 2007 to support advanced research and education in his laboratory[1][3]. Church met with Epstein several times a year even after his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution of a minor, including six phone calls and meetings in 2014[2][3]. Between 2010 and 2015, donors Epstein introduced to Professor Church gave $2 million to support his research at Harvard Medical School[4]. Church publicly regretted his contacts with Epstein and apologized for his lack of awareness and poor judgment[1][2][3]. He stated that scientists often have "nerd tunnel vision" and do not know as much about the donor as they would like[2][3]. Church denied knowledge of Epstein's plan for eugenics, such as inseminating multiple women with his sperm[2][3]. Harvard stopped accepting donations from Epstein after 2008[4].
