A baby boy, Hugo, was born in December 2025 at London's Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital by caesarean section and is the first baby born in the UK after a deceased donor womb transplant.[2] Grace Bell Powell's mother has Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH), a rare condition affecting approximately one in 5,000 women characterized by underdeveloped or absent uterus and vagina.[2] Despite being diagnosed at a young age when she was told she would not be able to carry a child of her own, her dream of biological offspring came true with a womb transplant from a deceased donor.[2] Bell is the first woman in the UK to have such a case, although two previous decease-donor deliveries have been reported in Europe.[2] Last year, the first child was born in Britain to a woman with a transplanted uterus, who received an organ from her living sister.[3]
