Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as an environmental lawyer, he fought for years against pesticides, especially the herbicide glyphosate used in Monsanto's Roundup[2]. In 2018, he won a landmark case for school janitor Dwayne Johnson, who claimed glyphosate exposure caused his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and a jury awarded him $78 million in damages[4]. This verdict paved the way for hundreds of thousands more cancer cases against Monsanto and later against Bayer, which bought Monsanto in 2018[4]. However, as Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kennedy has now declared that he will not target glyphosate because he fears it could endanger farmers who rely on the herbicide[4]. According to him, glyphosate is used in corn cultivation throughout the United States[4].
