The study noted a dramatic increase in the incidence of oropharyngeal cancer in people with HIV since 2000. This increase is especially among heterosexual men age 50 and older. The research was conducted in a large North American cohort of HIV patients. 55 new cases of this cancer were identified in the cohort. The study is observational in nature.
