In his State of the Union address, President Trump called on Congress to pass the Great Healthcare Plan, which is supposed to lower drug prices, insurance premiums and strengthen price transparency. The plan will allow proven drugs to be sold without a prescription, reducing costs and increasing competition. He proposes sending money directly to Americans instead of insurance companies, which the Congressional Budget Office says will save taxpayers at least $36 billion and reduce Obamacare premiums by more than 10%. Trump expanded access to health savings accounts for up to 10 million people on Obamacare and cracked down on health care fraud. According to estimates, the end of the subsidies could lead to the loss of insurance for 4 million Americans within a decade, with up to 10 million more likely to lose insurance due to changes in the budget bill. More than 20 million lower- and middle-income Americans face significant increases in insurance costs in 2026, such as $300 a month for some.[2][4] The plan also includes drug price reforms, including indexation to the lowest prices in other countries, and fraud protection.[1][3]
