The quadrivalent meningococcal serogroup B vaccine (4CMenB; Bexsero) did not reduce the incidence of gonorrhea in high-risk men who have sex with men. A randomized trial showed that the vaccine did not provide protection against this infection. The incidence rate ratio (IRR) was not in favor of the vaccinated group. The study was conducted in Denver and the results were presented at the MedPage Today conference. Previous observational studies suggested possible protection, but this controlled trial did not confirm this. The vaccine is only approved against meningitis B.
