Joshi and colleagues provide an overview of medical interventions in longevity that are evidence-based and those that are not, although they appear to be driven by commercial motives. Innovative approaches should be evidence-based and include a commitment to reducing inequality. Extensive research by Daisy Fancourt's team has shown a positive association between perceptive engagement with the arts and longevity. This association was observed over 14 years and included long-term interactions with cognition, mental health and physical activity. Art and culture are an important part of what makes people human. They can help lead a longer and more prosperous life.
