Antipsychotics are a key part of the pharmacological treatment of schizophrenia. They provide therapeutic benefits but have limitations in efficacy and tolerability. Over the past several decades, hundreds of randomized controlled trials have investigated the benefits and harms of these drugs in various populations with schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. These studies were summarized in systematic reviews. Systematic reviews have provided information for clinical guidelines. They also provided useful insights for everyday clinical practice. The article is a commentary entitled "Antipsychotic drugs for schizophrenia: time to move forward".
