Scientists are investigating pill forms of Ozempic and Wegovy drugs. The SNAC component in these pills helps semaglutide survive in the stomach and enter the bloodstream. In an animal study, SNAC was associated with changes in gut bacteria. These changes also included inflammatory markers and a brain-associated protein. Research has not shown harm in humans. However, the study raises questions about the long-term effects of daily SNAC exposure.
