Administration of vitamin D to infants in the first year of life has no significant benefit in preventing food allergies. The large VITALITY study with more than 2,700 healthy children showed no major benefit in this regard. Although there were trends suggesting a possible effect, they were not statistically significant. The study focused on healthy infants and assessed the risk of developing allergies. The results show that vitamin D supplementation at an early age is not enough to prevent food allergies.
