TrumpRx is a website launched by the Trump administration that offers discounted cash prices on brand-name drugs without insurance. On the first day of operation, 43 drugs were available, including 31 drugs from Pfizer and weight loss products such as Ozempic or Wegovy. The site is not for direct purchases, but directs patients to other sites where they can buy drugs at discounted prices. The platform is designed for uninsured patients who pay out of pocket, while about 85% of Americans have drug insurance, where prices are lower. Using TrumpRx does not count payments toward insurance deductibles or out-of-pocket maximums. The analysis showed that at least 18 brand-name drugs on TrumpRx have cheaper generics available through GoodRx or Cost Plus Drugs, such as Pfizer's Protonix for $200 versus $6 for a generic. The White House has signed 16 deals with pharmaceutical companies and plans to add more drugs. Experts point to risks such as the fragmentation of medical records and the increased risk of drug interactions without a pharmacist's review.[1][2][3][4][6]
