North London doctor Cinderella Nonoo-Cohen was suspended for four months for sending Islamophobic messages to a colleague in a group WhatsApp conversation.[1][2] The incident took place shortly after Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.[1] dr. Cohen criticized a colleague identified as "Dr. A" for posting a petition against the display of the Israeli flag, writing: "Typical of you to gaslight Muslims".[1][2] The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) found the phrase objectively Islamophobic and the statements seriously offensive.[1] Other charges of liking Islamophobic posts were dismissed because liking is not considered an endorsement of the content.[1] dr. Cohen explained that she sent the messages in a state of shock and emotional tension early in the morning.[1] The suspension took effect 28 days after the February 20 decision.[1]
