Healthgrades has released an annual ranking of the safest hospitals in the US, which includes the top 10% of hospitals nationwide for patient safety.[1][2] These hospitals have the lowest incidence of 13 predictable patient safety events.[1] The rankings were compiled based on clinical performance evaluations of approximately 4,500 hospitals for more than 30 common conditions and procedures.[2][3] America's 50 Best Hospitals include, for example, Mayo Clinic Hospital in Arizona, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California, AdventHealth Orlando in Florida, and Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital in Ohio.[1][2] America's 250 Best Hospitals comprise the top 5% of hospitals, including Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center.[3] The analysis showed that if all hospitals achieved the performance of the top 250, an average of 211,370 lives could be saved during the period 2022-2024.[3] The list includes hospitals from several states, such as California, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.[1][2][4]
