This protocol describes a systematic review of screening tools to assess cancer-related financial toxicity that compromises treatment adherence, increases caregiver burden, and induces psychological distress in patients. The aim is to analyze the similarities and differences between existing global tools, identify key themes and provide a basis for developing a tool adapted to the Chinese context. The review includes a search of databases such as the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang and VIP from 1 January 2012 to 1 January 2026. The literature will be assessed by two reviewers independently, with disagreement by a third, extracting characteristics such as publisher, year, country and assessment dimensions. A thematic analysis will be used to integrate the evidence and assess its quality using the GRADE-CERQual system. The study does not require ethical approval because it does not involve subjects, and the results are being disseminated at conferences and in journals. It is registered under PROSPERO no. CRD42024546186.
