The study examined the effects of a demand-source nursing research order model in the management of clinical nursing research. Clinical nurses and postgraduate nursing students participated in the model from May to June 2025, assessed by pre- and post-intervention questionnaires. 136 research orders from nurses were received, 7 rejected and 129 fulfilled, resulting in 36 theses and 25 research projects. 126 nurses significantly improved their total self-reported research competence scores after participation (mean difference = −0.611, p < 0.001), including the problem identification, literature review, research design, research practice, and data processing subscales. The 34 graduate students showed significant improvement in total self-reported research competence scores (mean difference = −2.091, p = 0.003), particularly in literature review, research design, research practice, and manuscript writing. Research self-efficacy and the organizational climate for student innovation also increased. The model increases the research capacity and self-efficacy of nurses and supports the research environment.
