A new study suggests that Alzheimer's disease can be detected by subtle changes in shape in proteins found in the blood. The researchers found structural differences in three blood proteins that track the progression of the disease. By analyzing these changes in more than 500 people, the team distinguished healthy individuals from those with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease with impressive accuracy. This approach could advance diagnosis and treatment to earlier stages.
