The program decree for the year 2026 counts on spending on health care in the amount of 8.85 billion euros.[1][3] This is a year-on-year growth of 541 million euros, which represents 6.52 percent compared to the approved budget for this year.[2] The decree takes into account the growth of wage expenses by 6.57 percent with an impact of more than 294 million euros, the effect of population aging, inflation on non-wage expenses, morbidity and the expiry of categorized items.[1][3] The minimum amount for prevention is set at 230 million euros.[1][3] The total cost-saving measures amount to approximately 242 million euros, of which 135 million euros on drugs and medical devices, 66 million euros from benchmarking in hospitals and 40 million euros from other measures.[1][3] The decree supports the stabilization of personnel, more efficient organization of care, transfer of services to one-day care, reduction of waiting periods and fulfillment of reform obligations.[1] More than 2.07 billion euros are allocated to medicines, aids and dietetic foods, with an increase of 465 million euros compared to 2025.[5]
