Patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have a significantly higher incidence of self-harm, including suicide, compared to the general population. A large Danish registry-based study confirmed this association. During the study period, the risk was higher in patients with HS. The study showed a major finding of increased risk of self-harm. Hidradenitis suppurativa is associated with a higher risk of suicide. The results highlight the need for attention to the mental health of these patients. The study was published on MedPage Today.
