This article is a revision of a study on the epidemiology and clinical patterns of dry eye in a Saudi population. The study analyzes seasonal patterns of interest in dry eye using Google Trends data in Saudi Arabia from 2011–2024. An annual seasonality was found, with a high season from February to August, with a peak occurring in June with an amplitude of 3.52 RSV units. Low humidity was the most important climatic factor increasing the volume of dry eye searches. The prevalence of dry eye in Saudi Arabia ranges from 32.1% to 75.9% in different studies. One study reported an overall prevalence of 17.5%, of which 11% had mild dry eye, 4.7% moderate, and 1.7% severe. Another study reports a prevalence of diagnosed dry eye of 38.4%, with another 36.8% having undiagnosed symptoms. Risk factors include female sex, use of antidepressants, antihistamines, and prolonged use of electronic devices.[1][2][3]
