The FDA is proposing more flexibility in using alternatives to animal testing in drug development. Drug developers can thus take advantage of these alternatives and potentially bring new products to market more quickly. The FDA released the draft guidance on Wednesday. In a press release, officials said they are moving the guidelines toward modern methods. These methods are human relevant and replace animal tests.[2] The goal is to improve the safety and efficiency of drug development without animal testing.
