The study analyzed data from a 100 million Brazilian cohort and examined the long-term risk of death after tuberculosis (TB) diagnosis and treatment.[1] The research used pooled routine data from a nationwide longitudinal study in Brazil between 2004 and 2018.[1][2] A diagnosis of tuberculosis, even with treatment, increases the risk of death from oncological causes.[1] The increased risk also applies to cardiovascular, endocrine and respiratory causes of death.[1] Major findings reveal persistent health consequences of TB even after successful treatment.[1][2]
