The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has agreed to fund a $1.6 million hepatitis B vaccine study. The study is to be conducted in Guinea-Bissau, where hepatitis B affects 18 to 19% of the population. The research team there conducted 25 years of research, with the results of 10 studies not publicly available. The study is on hold while the African CDC reviews its ethics and necessity.
