ACA enrollee Priscilla Brown has to decide between properly managing her type 2 diabetes and other necessities like gas for her car. Some days she only takes half or a third of the prescribed dose of insulin to stretch it out. Survey shows what ACA policyholders are cutting back on to afford health care. The latest ACA enrollment figures confirm the health care affordability crisis, with the number of people insured down by more than 1.4 million people compared to mid-January 2025. After the premium tax credits end on December 31, 2025, many face unaffordable monthly premiums, such as an increase from $921 to $1,998 or from $121 to $373. People are delaying insurance decisions or giving up altogether due to a lack of financial assistance. These results are a direct result of political decisions that weakened the health care system.
