Federal Judge Brian Murphy of Boston has blocked changes to the childhood vaccination schedule proposed by allies of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. After his confirmation, Kennedy fired all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which has recommended vaccination schedules for the CDC since 1964. In their place, he appointed 13 new members who question established vaccine research. The judge ruled that the actions violated federal law and circumvented the scientific process enshrined in the law. The ruling halted the government's document introducing the new vaccination calendar, the appointment of new ACIP members and all their votes. The lawsuit was filed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and other medical groups, which argued that the decisions were arbitrary and capricious. The ruling by Judge Murphy, a Biden appointee, was issued on Monday and leads to the postponement of the ACIP meeting.[1][4][6]
