A new blood test could catch pancreatic cancer much earlier than before. The researchers identified two previously unknown proteins in the blood that, when combined with existing markers, improved the accuracy of detection. The four-marker test detected pancreatic cancer in more than 90% of cases. It worked particularly well in the early stages, when treatment has the greatest chance of success. In one study, the test correctly distinguished pancreatic cancer from non-cancerous cases more than 90% of the time and caught about 87% of tumors at an early stage.[7]
