An avalanche occurred at Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort on Lake Tahoe above the G.S. area. Gully on top of KT-22 around 9:30 in the morning.[1][2][4] The avalanche buried four people, with 66-year-old Kenneth Kidd of Point Reyes and the Truckee Tahoe area dying at Tahoe Forest Hospital.[1][2][3][4] Three other skiers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were released from the hospital.[1][2] The avalanche debris field was 150 feet wide, 450 feet long, and 10 feet deep.[1][4] Two people were pulled out by civilians, one by his partner and the other by other guests.[1] Patrols and rescue teams searched the area, declared the end of the search and reported no more missing.[1][3] All lifts on both sides of the Palisades Resort and Alpine Meadows were closed for the rest of the day.[1][3]
