A randomized controlled trial published in Nature Medicine in 2026 investigated the effect of time-restricted eating (TRE) on women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that TRE led to significant weight loss in women with PCOS. A similar effect was observed with daily calorie restriction. Compared to a control group, TRE has been shown to be an effective weight management strategy. The study suggests that TRE is a safe alternative to calorie restriction for women with PCOS.
