[Comment] Announcing the Lancet Commission on schizophrenia and psychotic disorders

Schizophrenia represents the severe end of the spectrum of psychotic disorders. These disorders also include conditions induced by substance use. They are characterized by psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, thought disorders, and self-disorders. Cognitive impairment is also frequently associated with them. Psychotic disorders are among the most complex and debilitating health issues that remain globally unmet. Approximately 3.89 out of every 1000 people suffer from psychotic disorders. Worldwide, there are about 23.6 million cases of schizophrenia alone.
