[Newsdesk] Update on the Ebola virus outbreak in DR Congo

As of June 8, 2026, authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) are struggling to contain an outbreak of Ebola virus disease. This outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo virus. By the mentioned date, 598 confirmed cases of infection have been reported. Unfortunately, 115 people have died due to this disease. The situation poses a serious challenge for health authorities in the region. Efforts to control the spread of the virus are ongoing.
