Chromoblastomycosis

Chromoblastomycosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by fungi that affects the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The disease is transmitted through traumatic injuries when fungal spores enter the body through broken skin. The condition occurs primarily in warm and humid climates, especially in tropical and subtropical regions. The infection typically appears as slowly growing nodules or ulcers at the site of injury, often on the lower extremities. Treatment includes a combination of antifungal medications and in some cases surgical removal of affected tissue. Without adequate treatment, the disease can progress and lead to deformities and functional impairment.
