Clinician knowledge and self-efficacy in snakebite management: A cross-sectional assessment in Northern Uganda

The study assessed knowledge and self-efficacy of healthcare workers in snakebite management in Northern Uganda between February and July 2025. The research included 379 healthcare workers across three districts, of which 56.5% were female with a mean age of 35.6 years. Only 51.5% of participants demonstrated adequate knowledge, while 53.8% had prior training but 48.3% had not received updates for over 10 years. Workers in Omoro and Pader districts had lower odds of adequate knowledge compared to Gulu. Prior training significantly increased the odds of adequate knowledge. The findings highlight the need for regular mandatory training and targeted educational programs in remote areas.
