Scientists have taken a surprising step towards unlocking regeneration in mammals. They showed that the ability to rebuild complex body parts may not be lost, but simply switched off. Using a two-stage treatment, they redirected the body's normal healing response. Instead of scar formation, they focused on regrowth. They successfully restored bone, joints, ligaments, and tendons. These results were achieved after amputation in animal studies.
