During four Tuesday matches at the FIFA World Cup, stadiums were attended by 281,223 spectators, breaking a 32-year-old record for attendance in a single day. France versus Senegal was watched by 80,545 fans, Argentina versus Algeria by 69,045 fans, Austria versus Jordan by 68,527 people, and Iraq versus Norway by 63,106 fans. The previous record from the 1994 USA World Cup was 277,070 spectators for four matches on June 28. The 1994 tournament also holds the overall attendance record with 3.5 million fans. According to FIFA, the current World Cup in Canada, the United States, and Mexico is on track to surpass this record, as 1,309,652 spectators attended matches in the first six days.
