The study examined the effectiveness of aromatherapy in treating anxiety and pain in breast cancer patients. A systematic review included six randomized controlled trials published between 2015 and 2025. Results showed that aromatherapy reduced pain scores by an average of 0.79 units and anxiety by 0.53 units compared to the control group. The combination of aromatherapy with music was even more effective, reducing pain by 1.26 units and anxiety by 1.08 units compared to standard care. The quality of evidence was rated as low. The authors concluded that aromatherapy and music therapy have potential for alleviating anxiety and pain, particularly before surgical procedures, but further research is needed.
