The study examined the effectiveness of the PPKAY program, a culturally adapted brief intervention for injury patients in Tanzania. The research included 543 patients with a mean age of 36.8 years, of which 16.2% were aged 18 to 24 years. Young people (up to 24 years) responded better to the intervention than adults, reducing drinking days by 4 days and drinks consumed by 27.5 drinks. In adults, reductions were observed in both groups without intervention-specific effects. The results show that the effectiveness of alcohol-focused interventions varies by age groups and types of alcohol-related behaviors. The study confirmed greater responsiveness among young people in reducing drinking frequency and quantity.
