Sofinka from Brno was a three-year-old girl who fought an aggressive brain tumor called medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor in children, for more than a year. She was diagnosed at the beginning of 2025. Her final weeks were spent at home under the care of a specialized pediatric palliative care team that provided family support and pain relief. Sofinka died on May 3, 2026, after a year of treatment, taking two final breaths and falling asleep forever. Her parents placed her in a coffin with her favorite toys and stuffed animals and had her cremated. The family subsequently organized a farewell ceremony by the water, where attendees released Sofinka's favorite balloons into the sky.
