The Czech Republic recorded 25 suspected cases of health problems caused by cereulide toxin in infant formula, with one confirmed case. The toxin came from the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which contaminated products from several brands (Beba, Alfamino, Nutrilon, Hami, and Babybio) due to the use of the same oil supplier. In total, more than 7,000 contaminated batches were withdrawn. According to the World Health Organization, nearly 150 cases have appeared in 99 countries since December 2025. Symptoms of intoxication are usually mild, but infants under six months of age are more susceptible to dehydration. The State Food Inspection tested nearly 300 samples, most of which did not contain the toxin. Authorities were criticized for slow communication with the public at the beginning of the case.
