Pavel Rösner from Příbor is battling Lyme disease, which has profoundly changed his life. He did not develop the typical red rash, and initial fatigue symptoms in 2020 were considered cured with antibiotics. However, his condition gradually worsened until he completely collapsed in spring 2025, suffering from loss of balance, speech, and concentration. Later, he spent months in darkness and silence as he could not tolerate light or noise. The diagnosis came late because the borrelia bacteria had penetrated deep into his nervous system and heart (neuroborreliosis), making it difficult to treat in this advanced stage. As available treatment in the Czech Republic did not help, Pavel places his hope in therapy at the St. George Clinic in Bad Aibling, Germany. Over 1.4 million Czech crowns were raised for this treatment through a public collection. The treatment involves whole-body hyperthermia (heating the body to 41.5 °C), antibiotics, detoxification, and blood filtration, with the procedure repeated twice over two weeks.
