Music-Assisted Acupressure for Pain During AVF Cannulation in Hemodialysis Patients

The study investigated the effectiveness of music-assisted acupressure in reducing pain during arteriovenous fistula (AVF) cannulation in hemodialysis patients. An arteriovenous fistula is a surgically created connection between an artery and vein used for vascular access during dialysis. Cannulation, the insertion of needles into the fistula, is a painful procedural intervention. The research compared three approaches: music therapy, acupressure, and their combination (music-assisted acupressure) with standard care. The objective was to determine whether the combination of these non-pharmacological methods could more effectively reduce procedural pain compared to individual interventions or standard care.
