During hot weather, people should drink approximately two to three liters of water daily in smaller portions, as both dehydration and excessive water intake can be dangerous. According to experts, extreme amounts of water can lead to dilution of minerals in the blood, especially sodium, which may cause brain edema or heart failure. During heat waves, people should avoid beverages containing alcohol, caffeine, or cold sweet drinks. The most vulnerable groups are children and elderly people who lack timely thirst sensation. According to data from the General Health Insurance Company, nearly 1,300 patients sought medical care due to heat waves, with treatment costs reaching 2.4 million crowns. The most common problems are heat exhaustion and heat stroke, which require immediate cooling and moving to shade.
