Scientists at Baylor College of Medicine have discovered a new potential way to combat Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Instead of stopping Tau and alpha-synuclein proteins from clustering into small droplets in brain cells, they found that tubulin—the protein that builds the cell's internal transport network—can redirect these proteins away from forming toxic clumps toward healthy and productive activity. This discovery represents a new approach to treating these neurodegenerative diseases.
